Lizzie’s parents sat her down and told her that the only thing that’s different about her is that she is smaller compared to other kids. They told her that she has this syndrome but that it’s not going to change who she is or what she was. You need to go to school, they said, raise your head, be yourself and in time, people will get to know you and love you.
Lizzie did just that. She came back to school and started struggling. She looked different and people had treated her different. Living her life was so difficult – there were looks, there was staring, there were nasty comments. However, nothing could prepare Lizzie for the horrible torture that followed her in highschool. That was something that nobody can be ready for and it happened to her.
